Instant Mexico Auto Insurance Services Travel Tips

Staying awhile? Visitors to the northern part of Baja California for a stay of 72 hours or less do not need passports of tourist cards. However, if you plan to stay longer or to go south of Maneadero (south of Ensenada), you should obtain a Tourist Card. Tourist cards are issued on an individual basis, regardless of age. You are not required to have a car permit in Baja California, only on the mainland. Proof of ownership, such as title, registration or notarized bill of sale is required in issuing car permits.

There is no duty on purchases made in Mexico. U.S. Customs permits you to bring back merchandize of $400 dollars retail value per person duty-free per month, if it is for your own use, for your immediate family, or for gifts to friends. Anyone over 21 can bring back 1 quart of liquor every 30 days.

Leave pets at home. It's easier! If you insist on bringing your dog, you must have a veterinarian's certificate of good health and proof of rabies inoculation dated within the past six months.
