Rosarito Inn, built in late 1920, is one of the oldest and most famous hotels in Baja California. The hotel is a prominent feature on most maps and created the playa del rosarito city that surrounds it. It has attracted the rich and famous included on their list of guests are Orson Wells, Edward G. Robinson, Robert Stack, Gregory Peck, Vincent Price, Robert Preston, Spencer Tracy, and Anthony Quinn. One guest, Ali Khan, son of the Shah of Iran, visited the hotel in 1954 accompanied by sultry movie star Rita Hayworth.
On December 1, 1995, Rosarito was converted from a suburb of Tijuana, to an independent city. Hugo Torres Chabert, current owner of the Rosarito Beach Hotel led the incorporation drive and was subsequently appointed to a three year term as Mayor. Rosarito Inn actually has 4 hotels up and down the Rosarito beach.

On Saturday October 5th, members of the famed ensemble from the state of Jalisco are slated to perform as part of Rosarito’s Fourth International Mariachi & Folklorico Festival, which features musicians and dancers from both sides of the border. They will be joined by the Mariachi Divas, a Grammy-winning female mariachi group from Hacienda Heights. Also performing are members of the group Mariachia Aguila de Tijuana.
