Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race

The stated purpose of NOSA is to engage in amateur sports competition. In that context, NOSA sponsors yacht races. In addition, NOSA sponsors, promotes, and provides financial assistance to junior sailing programs and other non-profit organizations that promote amateur sports with an emphasis on sailing, boating, and seamanship.

The 125 mile overnight Newport to Ensenada Yacht  Race is a mix of fun and adventure; The race provides a choice for racers  to head off-shore for stronger winds or to sail the rhumb line towards the finish.

The race attracts all levels of participants, from first-time racers to  experienced pros, with over 50 trophy categories and numerous classes for monohulls, multihulls, and cruisers. People such as movie producer Milton Bren, well-known actors Buddy Ebsen and Humphrey Bogart, Walter Cronkite, comedienne Vicki Lawrence and Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Paul Conrad have raced alongside world-class skippers like Dennis Conner, Bill Ficker and Dave Ullman.
